Things are very busy in KNS at the moment, from show prep to basketball, everyone is working really hard. Recently we took posessession of some more outdoor play equipment from our Parent’s Assoc. meaning that now even the bigger kids have something to play with at break-time. Check out some of these wonderful creations. Stars, hammerhead sharks, shops, chairs and ice cream cones were created.
Welcome to O Gorman Superstores
Well done boys and girls. You filled nearly 70 shoeboxes for children less fortunate. These boxes will now begin their long journey to Africa and Eastern Europe. Thank you to our coordinator Cora Collins and to Neasa for gathering the boxes.
Kilmagner NS had a great day at the Midleton Futsal Fives. Thank you to the organisers and to John, Cora and Eileen for providing the transport. All the kids returned with medals. Kilmagner abú.
Kilmagner NS was recently taken over by some very scary characters. There were witches, werewolves, wizards, Wallys and Wendas, plus many more interesting creatures. Well done to all the children (and the staff) who really grasped the spirit of Halloween. The children were rewarded with an evening off homework. Bhí sibh go léir ar fheabhas! Kilmagner National School will be working towards getting an Active School Flag this year. As part of this process, we completed our first Active School activity today. We took part in a witches walk. We were joined by pirates, zombies and many others as we walked, skipped and hopped around the school! Continue reading
The school will be open again on Wednesday October 18th. Thank you.
A big thank you to Michael Collins who recently unveiled our 2nd ever Discovery Primary Science and Maths Award.
Michael was instrumental in the development of our new playing facility to the rear of our school. Michael is a well known and skilled excavation and landscaping expert. Using his skill and some heavy machinery, Michael excavated and levelled the site. A lot of hard work went into this and remarkably Michael did all this work on a voluntary basis. Included in the photo are Michael’s wife Eileen and their son Barry who is an integral member of the school’s BOM. Also included are Michael and Eileen’s grandchildren.
The children worked very hard to get the award and they are proud of their efforts. The plaque now stands proudly in the Thomas Kent Room. Let’s hope that there are many other plaques and awards to follow.
September 29th was a momentous day for Kilmagner NS as we officially opened our new recreation area to the rear of the school. A great crowd gathered and thankfully the rain stayed away for the ceremony. A big thank you to Father Coleman who went to great lengths to attend. For many it was their first time to view the new piece of land and everyone commented what a wonderful facilty it is. Thank you to all who attended and especially those who helped to develop the land. Finally, a big thank you to our fabulous Parents’ Association who again came up trumps and fed the big crowd. Here are some photos for you all to enjoy.
